The LS3P Knowledge Center is an educational website created to help our clients better understand the latest research and trends influencing how buildings are designed and constructed.

Much of the content stems from work performed by the LS3P Research Group, whose full-time staff is dedicated to collecting and disseminating research on a wide variety of topics to our clients and architects alike.  Our belief is that by better informing our clients about the larger issues surrounding architecture, we can create a more effective partnership that heightens our abilities to Enhance Client Strategies.

Please feel free to browse the site as you wish.  We have intentionally shunned a rigid hierarchy for this site because there is a great deal of crossover and studies that apply across arbitrary boundaries (does a study showing natural daylight’s positive impact on student test scores not also apply to offices or hospitals?).   As a result we rely on a broad array of tags (see topics on the right side of the screen) that will grow organically  over time as new information and interests are added.

While we feel it’s vital to stay current on the latest research in design and construction, we do not necessarily believe that every study yields results that are highly generalizable. Architecture is a very project specific profession, and we fully recognize that what works in one instance does not always apply to another.  For this reason we aim only to present what others have discovered, and we do not officially endorse any specific theories discussed on this site.  We are firm believers in the power of design informed by research but also understand that this field is very young.  There is still very much to learn about the myriad impacts the design of a facility has on its occupants, and we hope to be enthusiastic students far into the future!
